Amnesty International on strike? You don't say. I hope they will return to work immediately, so that the killing in Syria, the labour camps in North Korea and the mistreatment of women in Saudi Arabia will stop immediately. - Or won't it make any difference: http://andreasmoser.wordpress.com/2012/10/18/amnesty-international-strike/ ?

Amnesty is an organisation very close to my heart. I have worked as a volunteer and have helped raise thousands of pounds at parties held in Amnesty's name. If this is a battle for the soul of Amnesty (as I believe it may be), it should be remembered that the organisation was born in a different age and from a different generation. I wonder how long it will take for a P2P version to appear. As soon as a credible alternative appears that adheres to modern standards of transparency, openness and participation it will have no problems attracting eager members and volunteers such as myself. I believe the battle for Amnesty's soul isn't lost and remain at the organisation's disposition, but the fact is my efforts have to be prioritised somewhere, and given the choice of closed, secretive and non-participative, with a modern P2P alternative, well, truthfully there is no choice.
