Bureau Recommends: Obama donors bag key government posts

The Bureau recommends an editorial in the LA Times that focuses on the extent to which the US President’s financial benefactors are being given top government posts, including ambassadorships.

An investigative team from the Center for Public Integrity found that more than two years into Barack Obama’s administration, ‘nearly 200 of his biggest donors have landed plum government jobs and advisory posts, won federal contracts worth millions of dollars for their business interests or attended numerous elite White House meetings and social events.’

The findings suggest that nearly 80% of those who collected more than $500,000 for Obama took ‘key administration posts,’ as defined by the White House.

Over half the ambassador nominees were fundraisers who contributed more than half a million dollars. In total 24 big fundraisers have been appointed as ambassadors under Obama.
