Katie is a journalist and documentary filmmaker. Before joining TBIJ she worked as a producer and director for BBC Current Affairs, where she made investigative and undercover films for Panorama and Africa Eye. She has worked throughout Africa and the Middle East. Her focus has been on stories from under-reported and disadvantaged communities. She previously worked as a producer for Al Jazeera English News in Qatar. She has worked on a range of stories from the rise of extremism in Nigeria to the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone, an investigation into racism in the British Army and a GLAAD-nominated film about the oppression of gender non-conformists in Nigeria She studied Middle Eastern History and Arabic at Durham University and has masters degrees in African History, Broadcast Journalism and Social Documentaries.
