Where have Pakistan drone attacks taken place?

We’ve constructed a highly searchable geographic database of drone strikes using Tableau, a great piece of software for analysing and visualising data. Where available, the information provided includes the date, time, region, target or target organisation, number of deaths, number of civilian deaths, number of child deaths, number of injured, and a brief summary of the circumstances surrounding the strike.

As well as searching by Bureau ID, location, date, target and text summary using the search bars on the right, you can also scroll through the complete history of strikes using the slider at the top of the right-hand column. Strikes with higher death tolls are visualised with larger icons. Click the ‘Show History’ box if you want to see a pattern of the location of strikes build up over time.

To view the information we’ve included for each strike, move your mouse over the incident you want to inspect. Be aware, however, that clicking on events rather than mousing over them may slow down the program.

The Bureau’s major assessment of CIA drone strikes in Pakistan is an ongoing project. If you would like to be kept informed on this issue click here to sign up to our newsletter.
