How many people are condemned to death in the US? And how likely are they to actually be executed?

Using data from the Death Penalty Information Center, the Bureau has mapped the death row populations of each US state. Click on any state to see how many people have been executed there since 1976, when the Supreme Court ruled that the death penalty does not run counter to the Constitution.
