In video: How US "good guys" wiped out an Afghan family

On September 23 2018, Masih Mubarez's wife, seven children and four young cousins were wiped out in a strike on his house. Devastated by their deaths, he began to hunt for answers. Who had killed his family and why?

What followed was an eight month journey to learn the truth. Both the US and Afghan forces - the only two militaries carrying out strikes in Afghanistan - denied responsibility. But working with the Visual Investigations unit of The New York Times, we were able to prove that, despite denials, the US military had carried out the fatal strike.
