The Bureau’s council spending investigation in the media

A nine-month investigation by the Bureau into council spending, involving the largest ever freedom of information survey was covered widely across national and regional press.

The report asked Britain’s 433 councils a series of questions about spending and efficiency. The revelations come at a time of massive spending cuts. Councils are expected to reduce their budgets by 28% over the next five years, which will lead to the loss of nearly 100,000 employees.

Channel 4 News ran a 10 minute package on the Bureau’s latest research.

The investigation also made the front page of the Daily Telegraph, and was picked up by the regional press.
